LASTMA pledges to take legal action against skit and filmmakers for unauthorized utilization of uniforms and equipment.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Management issued a stern warning against unauthorized use of its uniform and related items by skit or filmmakers. General Manager Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki emphasized this after encountering a viral video featuring actors in fake LASTMA uniform. Bakare-Oki expressed concern over the negative portrayal of LASTMA in movies and skits, urging compliance with Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, which prohibits such unauthorized use. He warned that filmmakers must obtain proper permits for depicting LASTMA officers, or face legal consequences. The aim is to regulate the possession and use of LASTMA uniform and accessories to prevent their misuse in society. Bakare-Oki called on relevant associations, like the National Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTA), to caution their members against unauthorized uniform use, stressing that violators will be prosecuted under the law.
