Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of Nigerian singer Davido, has faced backlash for her sharp response to a follower’s unsolicited parenting advice regarding her daughter Imade’s trip to Disneyland.
Sophia took to social media to share that she had organized a self-sponsored trip to Disneyland for her 9-year-old daughter, reflecting on the significant expense and the promise she felt was broken by Davido. She implied that Davido had failed to keep his promise to take Imade to Disneyland and proudly stated that she had fulfilled the promise herself. Her post read, “1 yr ago today, I fulfilled a promise that was intentionally broken to a child cos not Sophia’s daughter chile.”
A follower responded by advising Sophia to love intentionally, be calm, and accept the present, warning that if she didn’t care for Imade, others might not treat her well. The follower added, “If you don’t do it, no one else would. And if she ever gets it from elsewhere, she would be treated so badly for it. So you should be a mother, love intentionally, be calm, and accept the present. Those telling you otherwise don’t like you.”
Sophia replied defensively, emphasizing her role as Imade’s primary caregiver and questioning the follower’s right to offer unsolicited advice. She wrote, “You right, it’s all ME. And as I continue to impress myself as a parent imma talk my shit, how it affects your reality is none of my business. Also, I didn’t run into you at the private jet terminal today maybe if we ever do you can try to offer your unsolicited advice and see until then. You already know what to do so with that water shawty. Drink up.”
Her response sparked widespread criticism on social media, with many accusing Sophia of bitterness and suggesting her reaction stemmed from Davido not marrying her.
